FAQ

Do I need experience?

No! We welcome those who have never (ever) touched clay and those who have worked with clay for years. We provide a community studio that welcomes and encourages makers at every stage in the creative journey.

Which course/workshop is best for beginners?

All of our workshops are suited to beginners! We keep our groups small so that each student gets as much one-on-one time with the tutor as needed. If you’re more advanced, we can adapt the class to that as well. Our beginner wheel throwing classes and intro to hand-building is a good way to start your journey in pottery and ceramic.

Can I bring my own clay?

No, in order to ensure that clay is correctly fired, outside clay is not allowed. We provide clay for all classes and workshops at no additional charge.

Do you use food-safe glazes?

Function and safety are extremely important to us, in our classes and workshops we use only commercial-grade lead-free glazes.

Is my finished art dishwasher safe?

YES! All our pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe. We think the dishwasher and the microwave are both great inventions and support their use. You can treat all our pottery just as you would your other (factory-produced) dishes, we just hope you love your handmade pieces more.

What should I wear?

We suggest comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little dirty (close toe-ed shoes, please)! Aprons are available for those wanting to make a creative fashion statement. All you need is a bath towel.

What kind of tools do I need?

We will provide tools

What is the difference between classes and workshops?

A workshop is a single-day event while our classes meet weekly for 3-6 weeks. Workshops and courses are for 15 years and above.

How long after my workship end will I have to wait before I can collect my pieces?

Clay is unpredictable, the process can even be delayed by the weather. We will aim however to have your pieces back to between 20-30 days. If after 30 days you haven’t heard from us, reach out to [email protected] with your name and the workshop/course date.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! We do, all you need to do is reach out to us at [email protected] and we can calculate the shipping fees based on the address you give us and the number of items you intend to purchase.

We have a Nabertherm Top 220 in our Burwood Studio (her name is Pari) and we have Cress ET28 280L in our Brunswick studio (his name is Parviz)

We fire to Cone 10 at both studios.

What happens if my work cracks in the kiln?

All care is taken in workshops to ensure our student’s work is well made; however, there’s always the odd casualty with pottery. We take no responsibility for work that cracks or breaks.

What if I missed a glazing session?

If you miss your glazing session, we will glaze your pieces in white.

What’s your cancelation and reschedule policy?

We have a Seven-day rescheduling policy and unfortunately, we don’t have cancelation or refund policy,If notice to reschedule is given within 7 days of the workshop date, we will try our best to find another suitable time for you.

Will you contact me when my piece is ready?

Unfortunately, not. Not only would this be very difficult for us to do with just an inscribed initial at the bottom of the piece but also impossibly time consuming. We will announce in our social Media account couple of times and allocate collection time. Failure to collect work may result in that work being discarded of. Workshops and courses are for 8 years and above.

Do you have a parking?

There’s plenty of on-street parking on Duffy Street for our Burwood studio and 2hr free parking in Lygon st for our Brunswick studio

How long will you keep my work?

We have very strict 1 MONTH STORAGE POLICY at Diana Ceramic. Unfortunately, it is a must to keep our studio organized, and we will discard work if left uncollected. Please note: it is the student’s responsibility to be aware of storage times and the studio cycle, we recommend following our social media accounts to stay updated.
